Carbon Emissions

MDF will pursue a “carbon neutral policy”. All efforts will be made to reduce our carbon footprint and offset our emissions. We will  calculate our carbon footprint (www.climatefriendly.org) and take all measures possible to reduce it, by avoiding unnecessary transport. MDF will offset CO2 emissions through funding of the local marine park and various MDF charities in local community projects. Efforts will be made to engage festival participants and communicate the impact of their carbon emissions.

To make MDF participants aware of the amount of carbon emitted when travelling the link to the “Carbon Calculator” www.climatefriendly.org is available on our website (Travel Section). This allows people to calculate the amount of carbon emitted from planes when travelling to and from the festival.
Carbon offsetting schemes will be promoted to participants not as a substitute for travelling via plane but as a way of giving back to the environment, and support local conservation initiatives. As such, MDF participants are encouraged to calculate their travel emissions and  contribute the offsetting amount (or part of it) to The MDF Carbon Neutral Fund that will be at the disposal of local environmental initiatives, local NGOs and charities.

MDF Carbon Neutral Fund is also committed to setting aside 100% of its surplus profits to long term projects such as community projects, health and education.
Talks, workshops, art and documentaries will be presented on carbon and climate change issues.
